Kalshi runs 15-minute up/down markets on 19 underlyings: BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, DOGE, HYPE, ZEC, NEAR, BNB, gold, silver, copper, platinum, palladium, oil, natural gas, EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY. A new round opens every quarter hour. We built one engine to watch all of them at once and ran it live. Here is what the first 265 trades taught us.
The numbers (Oct 8–10, 2026)
- 265 settled live trades, 250 wins, 15 losses (94.3%)
- Win rate needed to break even at the prices paid: 92.6%
- Net after fees: +$49.89
- Worst single loss: −$14.23

Lesson 1: win rate lies
Buying favorites at 90–95¢ wins often and pays little. At 93¢, one loss wipes out about 14 wins. See the full table in Kalshi fees and the break-even win rate.
Lesson 2: most of the edge is late in the round
Early in a 15-minute window, prices are close to a coin flip. The useful information shows up in the last few minutes, when the market has moved and there is less time for it to reverse.
Lesson 3: skipping is most of the job
The engine passes far more rounds than it trades: price too high for the edge, a stale book, or too little time left. The best trade is often no trade.
Lesson 4: not all 19 markets behave alike
Crypto trades around the clock. Metals and FX books thin out and go stale on weekends. Per-market filters matter more than one global rule.
Lesson 5: fees matter most where you least expect
The fee per contract is smallest at extreme prices, but so is the profit, so fees take a bigger bite exactly where "safe-looking" trades live.
